Short Description of IGSupportive travel environment

The cabin ambience provides an important component of well-being and comfort for passengers as well as for crew members. The environmental conditions are not yet optimised, in particular trade-offs between different environmental parameters (pressure, humidity, temperature, noise etc.) must be investigated in order to establish a so-called human response model. Different individual requirements (e.g. privacy, office-like ambience, mood-light, climate control, seat comfort) have to be aligned with technical realisation and appropriate design tools. Improved virtual reality during design phase helps to find cost-effective solutions provided these tools are based on validated human factors.

Objective of this IG is to link university research groups of human factors, psychophysics, engineering and design in order to foster and adjust investigations as proposed by ACARE with respect to travel comfort and safety.
