The challenge is to develop a network that will link the aeronautics community in European universities. This should allow communication between individuals and it should contain information that will facilitate the establishment of groups of experts on particular topics and allow them to exchange ideas and work together. It should provide a mechanism by which the academic community can provide collective views on relevant topics and provide a conduit for these views to be made known to other interested parties e.g. industry and the European Commission. The network should also enable industry, the national research establishments and the European commission to “see”, communicate with and interact with the European universities aeronautics resource.
